Happy 7th Birthday Prospector Theater!
Over the last seven years, we've seen it all: increased quality of life through competitive and integrated work, record-breaking opening weekends, national news coverage, an invitation from the White House, and more. We sparkled through snowstorms, hurricanes, and a global pandemic. We hosted your first dates, birthday parties, family movie nights, mitzvahs, field trips, and corporate get-togethers. Thank you for sharing your memories with us these last seven years.
And with your support, we've been able to accomplish some incredible feats. More than 280 Prospects have worked at the Prospector since opening, clocking over 700,000 hours of meaningful employment and earning $15,000,000+ in payroll. Nearly 650,000 moviegoers have experienced our pink-glove service, discovering the talents, sparkle, and employability of Prospects first-hand. Our sparkly beacon of hope shines brightly for those who can work, want to work, yet struggle finding competitive and integrated jobs.
When we opened in November of 2014, we were a movie theater with a mission. Now, we're a MOVIE THEATER ON A MISSION. Over 82% of Americans with disabilities are unemployed. This number has increased since 2014, with an additional 1,000,000 more Americans with disabilities losing their jobs due to the pandemic. Our work is needed now more than ever.
Prospects have accomplished so much in our short seven years. Imagine what we’ll accomplish in seven more! Looking back, we see how much more meaningful employment the world needs, and who better to take on the task than Prospects? This past year alone, Prospects have created our Prospector Gourmet Popcorn website, started filming for our new Sparkle Vision streaming service (launching in 2022!), and we are generating more projects that will help increase the amount of jobs created for people with disabilities. We are working everyday to create more opportunities and expand our mission.
As we blow out the candles this year, we have one simple birthday wish - MORE WORK. You can help us with this, as you have for the last seven years.
