SERVICE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

The Prospector Theater educates, entertains, and dazzles groups, schools, and businesses of all sizes! Participants build empathy and community service skills by actively engaging in custom-designed, Prospect-led programming. We can tailor our service learning opportunities to suit the needs of your classroom, business, or organization!

Here are some examples of the exciting work we can do together!

Tour and Movie

Join us at the Prospector for a day of learning, popcorn, movies, and sparkle! Participants will join Prospects for a behind-the-screens tour of our mission and model. Afterwards, you can view any of our first-run content, or bring in your own DVD/Blu-Ray (some restrictions apply).

Hip-Hop Workshop

Prospects will take participants through a journey of rhythm and rhyme, demonstrating how we use hip-hop to build empathy, break down barriers, and create meaningful employment!

The Pencil Presentation

Let’s drop the label. Prospects work very hard to deconstruct outdated stereotypes and stigmas. The Pencil Presentation is an interactive discovery of how we should focus on what makes us similar, rather than what makes us different.

Six-Word Short Stories

Become a member of the Prospect Production crew and create your own empathy-themed video production using just six words! Inspired by Ernest Hemingway’s six word tale, participants will work with our Production team to storyboard, film, and edit a video using a narrative of six words.

Prospect-o-lier Challenge

The Prospect-o-lier is the centerpiece of our building and mission. Participants will learn about the Prospect-o-lier on their tour and will then use its message to create their own Prospect-o-liers alongside Prospects!

AD (Audio Description) Experience

The Prospector prides itself on being an inclusive and accessible moviegoing experience and work environment. Participants in this program will use assistive moviegoing technology that allows both blind and visually impaired Prospects and patrons to experience a movie. Led by Carolyn "CeCe" Harrington, Prospect, and Graduate, of the Perkins School for the Blind.

A group of 19 Prospects cheer during a group photo under a pink and black balloon arch in The Prospector Theater’s lobby during opening night.
