Last week’s unveiling at the Prospector Theater was a moment of triumph and transformation. Under the spotlight was a magnificent mosaic, a golden rainbow spectrum crafted entirely from buttons, each piece a glimmer of our collective journey. The artwork, spelling out “Sparkle On!” in vivid hues, is more than a visual delight. It’s a symbol of a journey from darkness to light, especially poignant given the history of Button Sorting.

My name is Munchie and I’d like to make an argument for Tommy Wiseau’s 2003 masterpiece, The Room, as the most important, culturally significant movie of all time.

Prospects have accomplished so much in our short seven years. Imagine what we’ll accomplish in seven more! Looking back, we see how much more meaningful employment the world needs, and who better to take on the task than Prospects?

I have made the decision to temporarily close our doors, starting on Monday, April 5, 2021. COVID cases are on the rise again and Ridgefield has seen a spike in cases. The Prospector Theater has taken the extraordinary step to choose safety now, with the promise of sparklier tomorrows.

It’s the mid-90s and I’m home from college, standing in Hope’s room. I wouldn’t know for another decade the similarities between her room and those of my other friends with Down syndrome: impeccably neat, bed made with extra pillows and stuffed animals. Our two other sisters and I went away to school, and Hope and her room sadly stood the same in time.
